SHORT BIO
LONG BIOGRAPHY
Feef Mooney is a folk/rock singer-songwriter, formerly of Glasgow, Scotland.
She's now based in Los Angeles, CA, where she was originally signed to Almo/Rondor under legendary producer Richard Perry (Nilsson, The Pointer Sisters, Captain Beefheart)
When the small label was sold to Universal Music, Feef elected to build her own recording studio and work independently.
With guidance from veteran mixer Matt Forger (Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones) Feef began producing her own records, during COVID, in which she played all instruments, programming drums or farming out parts to online friends.
The result was the much-loved "The Last of the Cartoon Vagabonds,"a collection of songs about eccentric misfits, true stories about characters Feef has known from London, to Edinburgh to Los Angeles, who remain anonymous yet captured in whimsical songs.
Feef continues to produce clients within her Bloomfield Studios, and has worked with prolific producer/mutli-instrumentalist Fernando Perdomo on three albums. The first, Cleo September (later edition Cleo Redux) is a collection of pop songs that tell stories, much as her Vagabonds did. Its charming innocence led to connections within the Nilsson community in LA, and performances as part of the annual Nilsson Night.
Feef met producer and multi-instrumentalist Chris Price, who joined Fernando and her self in creating two EPs entitled "Special Friend." These too possessed an innocence and pop sensibility, with a kind of naive simplicity, still leaning into the idea of the individual who doesn't fit in, but survives with humor and empathy, in a world that tries to box people and art into specific categories.
After a two year hiatus, Feef has returned with her most personal of albums. She has written an album that is a spiritual journey from isolation and loss to recovery and release.
Feef's influences are pretty apparent. She draws heavily on Joni Mitchell and Sandy Denny, but loves the boldness of Chrissie Hynde. She is a big fan of Rodriguez, and admires his plain speaking poetry, his realness.
And her guitar style reflects an obsession with Stephen Stills and the Laurel Canyon scene of the 1960s.
