You Do Have Power

I'm impatient.

I don't want to mince words.

It's easy to make the list of what is wrong right now.

It's easy to get into it with someone who is equally passionate and disagrees.

I don't want to.

I'm not getting my knickers in a twist.

I can give you at least 100 things that have happened this year that have set my hair on fire.

If you want that list, write me, and ask me.

You'll get that list!

FDR once said, "Make me do the right thing."

Today, I am not happy with Rob Bonta or with Gavin Newsome. They caved when it came to negotiating the WB/Paramount Merger.

Now you can nod your head and "Told You so" me.

But it reminds me of the hanging chads and Al Gore conceding to George Bush so very long ago.

Right now it feels like the Corporations have more power than the Government that is supposed to protect US. WE THE CONSUMERS.

I'm writing and thinking every week, how much more do these billionaires want? Our national parks? Our media? Our movies? The race to consolidate and merge and create mega-corporations that control everything we have, from our foods, our drinks, to our power, to our parks, to our media.

How much more can they own?

OH, and of course the music industry too.

Add to that their use of artificial intelligence and their need to use our air and water for their data centers.

We NEVER agreed to any of this, and we are getting pushed and bothered incessantly about it.

Here, my friends, are my magical powers.

1. I CAN UNPLUG. I CAN REFUSE TO BUYTHEIR MEDIA AND GET MY INFO ELSEWHERE, CHAMPIONING TRUE JOURNALISTS WHO PROBABLY NEED MY FINANCES.

2. I CAN NOT BUY THEIR FOOD. I CAN SUPPORT FAMILY FARMS AND FOOD TRUCKS AND LOCAL RESTAURANTS AND REFUSE TO BUY THEIR FAST FOOD CRAP.

3. I CAN VISIT THE PUBLIC LIBRARY AND ALSO SMALL BOOKSTORES

4. I CAN HOST DINNER PARTIES AND MUSICAL SOIREES.

5. I CAN GO TO LOCAL SHOWS AND NOT SUPPORT THE MEGA POP STAR BILLIONAIRE BOYS in their STADIA.

6. I CAN PLUG INTO ORGANIZATIONS THAT HELP OTHER PEOPLE AND ORGANISE BENEFITS

7. I CAN DONATE MY FRUIT TO FOOD FORWARD AND FOOD BANKS

8. I CAN PROTEST WHAT I DO NOT AGREE WITH AND DO SO PEACEFULLY WITH OTHER PEOPLE WHO ALSO SHARE MY DISCONTENT

9. I CAN USE SOCIAL MEDIA AND AI LESS, AND CALL PEOPLE, SEE PEOPLE, ENGAGE IN REAL TIME.

10. I CAN DEFINITELY VOTE AND ENCOURAGE EVERYONE I KNOW TO DO THE SAME.

What happened yesterday regarding this merger is disheartening. But I can call Newsome and Bonta and i can also email them and tell them how disappointed I am.

I am a person of power who can join, articulate, perform, write, engage.

No one can take that away from me.

Or you.
